Let's Party at Peats Place
With so many festivals going on around new years, it’s tough to find something to differentiate the one you’re going to from the good time you missed out on somewhere else, which all your friends will no doubt point out to you at length. The line-up is always a good start, but often the best I’ve seen have failed to deliver and the bands I brought the lowest expectations to often give me the best experience.
For me, what it comes down to is the atmosphere. Do I go to festival that is full of drunken teens who flip everyone the bird cause they’re the only ones truly ‘living’ and everyone else is a sellout? Or the festival full of super interesting fixie owners who flip you the bird if you ain’t wearing a Trilby hat? Can’t we all just get along? Why does everyone flip me the bird?
All valid questions. May I make a suggestion for all of you still looking for a place free from bird flipping and ‘tude? The 2010 Peats Ridge festival is kicking off in less than 48 hours. It’s chilled out, it’s got a good line-up, and oh, it’s basically a completely sustainable festival.
That’s what we’re all about. You shouldn’t have to trash a place to have a good time, and the Peats Ridge guys are doing all sorts of cool stuff to try and reduce the footprint they (and you, festival-goer) make. Power stages on biodiesel, kitchens on solar power, even green toilets. Personally, that itself is enough to get me across the line, even if I didn’t have a little boy crush on Julia Stone.
Oh, and if you’re looking for another reason to come, we’re there. Let us know if you’re coming by writing on our Facebook wall and we’ll see you at Peats.
