We all like staying in hotels. Change of scenery, comfy beds, room service, yada yada yaha. For me, it’s also about novel locations. Beachside, mountain top, something different to lift me out of routine, boring suburbia and drop me in into a novel and interesting environment.

It’s always pretty interesting to see an ambitious project get up, especially when it happens in your own back yard. The Ark building is a literally shining example about how business is starting to appreciate the value of sustainable practices.

Having grown up on acreage in ‘the sticks’, surrounded by bushland, fruit & vegie crops and many kinds of happiness (honestly, it was pretty idyllic circumstances for an inquisitive kid), I tend to forget – city kids need green places to play! And when cities are graded for quality based on things like public transport facilities and level of pedestrian friendliness, well, that’s what makes the work of Topotek1 so wholesome.

Airports use some pretty strange methods to get passengers around before their flight. Dallas replaced a complex underground train system around the terminal with a complex elevated train system.

This is London's Strata SE1 Tower, affectionately known as 'The Razor'. And when it comes to sustainability, this building is literally cutting edge.
